3rd Climate Application Forum Convened in Pakistan

Sixty-three participants gathered in Islamabad, Pakistan for the 3rd Climate Application Forum (CAF). The multi-sectoral preparedness planning session leveraged evidence-based climate information application to address challenges posed by climate variability and change.

Among the questions discussed were:

How did the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s monthly/seasonal outlook perform during the 2023 monsoon and 2023-24 winter?

Were there significant sectoral weather/climate-related experiences during the 2023 monsoon and 2023-24 winter?

What were the key lessons learned in managing weather/climate-related events and their impacts during the 2023 monsoon and 2023-24 winter?

What should we expect during the 2024 southwest monsoon season in different provinces in Pakistan?

What are the tactical preparedness plans that we can put in place and how do we harmonize these with our operational decisions during this monsoon season.

The 3rd CAF was jointly organized by the Pakistan Meteorological Department and  Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CARE) for South-Asia Project. CARE Component 1  is implemented by the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System and supported by the World Bank.
